Subject: Petrol shortage song!
My friend Rich and myself got together last night, and when we got bored, we started altering songs for the petrol protest. It actually started sounding not bad, so we decided to do a decent job of it. Here's the result:-
The petrol shortage song Words: Richard Hunt & Graham Bartlett (Grab) Tune: Lazing on a sunny afternoon, by the Beatles
The tax-man's taken all my gas, And left me in my Cambridge flat, Lazing on a sunny afternoon. And I can't move a lot, He's taken every single drop, All I've got's this sunny afternoon. Save me, save me, save me from this squeeze, I've got a big fat chancellor tryin' to break me. And Two Jags lives so pleasantly, Drives around in luxury, Lazing on a sunny afternoon, In September-time, in September-time, in September-time.
My girlfriend's stuck without her car, And walked back to her ma and pa, Telling tales of queues and fights and tailbacks. Now I'm sitting here, Can't even buy a lukewarm beer, All I've got's this sunny afternoon. Help me, help me, help me drive away, Just give me two good reasons why I ought to pay. Cos I love to drive so pleasantly, But empty pumps are all I see, Lazing on a sunny afternoon, In September-time, in September-time, in September-time.
Grab.
PS. This tune seems great for other uses - this is the second parody I've done recently with that. Trouble is, I'm crap at working out new tunes...
