I had a Gaberdine when I was a kid. It was a raincoat made of the material Gabardine, which is tightly woven and resists water (to an extent, anyway!) making it specially suitable for rainwear, though I see that Mrs. Google has suits made of it too, which seems a bit unlikely given its stiffness.
