Fascinating. My mother also sang this to me regularly in the '50s in Charlotte, North Carolina. She also only sang the "Horsey, keep your tail up, keep your tail up, keep your tail up; horsey, keep your tail up, keep the sun out of my eyes" line. She sang it to the tune of "Did You Ever See a Lassie."
