My son is working on a hard disk problem on his new computer. I offered what I knew about the software he asked about, suggested another solution with other software he also has (if the corrupt sector is his boot section, he can try booting with the OS disk and it might offer to repair, etc.) and to check the Windows site. We've had a number of computer issues to solve, though this is the first system failure, and though it would be nice as Mom to wave a wand and make it work, it's good for him to sort this out, and what timing. A long weekend for tinkering.

Our bulky waste pickup is the week of Sept 13 so I've started trimming some limbs that grew into the way during the summer. I'll mow this weekend, then start piling the branches on the lawn down at the curb. I went out and trimmed during a break this afternoon. I decided it was time when I was hearing car doors slam on the street but couldn't see through this multi-stem tree's drooping branches. I figure if I can't see the street, people in the street can't see the house if someone is trying to break in. (The Sheriff was parked across the street and must have wondered at the nosy neighbor pruning her tree so she can see out.)
