Subject: RE: BS: This man has amnesia-can you help him?
Just thinking out loud here:

I imagine they have tried him on whether he knows other languages; it appears that he is American - whether, North, Central or South - or we would have been told of it.

His fingerprints don't match any in the FBI database - but only recently I discovered to my befuddlement that the results of having one's fingerprints taken as required by one's employment don't even go to the FBI or to any kind of national database. Makes no sense to me; I have fingerprints in three different places here in this town, in the school district and in Big Brothers, Big Sisters. From what I'm told, they don't send them on to anybody.

I was picturing what would be the outcome if I went missing. Say that I woke up alone in New Jersey with no ID. Brought up as I was there is no photo of me anywhere before the age of 19 (except for one long distance one of me building a snowman at age 12). There are not many photos of me even as a grown person; it is not something I have ever pursued or cared for.

So, how long would it take for me to be identified? The last 20 years I've been much more visible in my community in Alaska than I ever was in Oregon or Michigan or Virginia. I would not expect to be identified by anybody from those earlier states.

Question: How widespread is the coverage of a missing person/found person? In Alaska, would there be coverage of a found person in New Jersey?
