My story is about that one that got away.

Our family owned, during my early teen years, a 1932 Plymouth coupe. Stick floor shift, really boxy looking four banger. I was looking forward to one day driving (if not outright being gifted) the car.

Here I am now, fifteen years old, sitting in that car every day running through the gears, only months away from my learners' permit. They sold the car! My family crushed my dreams!

What, you may ask, did they buy to replace my dream? A brand new blue Toyopet sedan. Never heard of a Toyopet? It was the forerunner to the beloved Toyota. My family had become one of the first families to own a Japanese import; you might say we were a pioneering family.
