URGENT(?) NOTICE OF CHANGE IN SCHEDULE

The Landrush originally scheduled for 07:00 AM Thursday 09 September 2010 has been OFFICIALLY rescheduled to 07:00 AM SATURDAY 11 September 2010.

The change has been announced on the "campground radio" and should be posted on the WVA website soon.

This is the time at which those here can move to their chosen campsites and set up camp for the festival. (It is also the time when people may find out whether they can get their chosen spots, and water and electric hookups to support staying for the festival.)

The change in schedule is due to a forecast of intermittent heavy rain for the next couple of days in the area, likely to cause muddy conditions. Rain during the originally scheduled landrush time is predicted, and could be intermittently heavy.

(Unlike prior years, the collection of fees through the end of the festival was done at "Lineup" rather than after landrush, so they already have the money, allowing more flexible scheduling.)

Although the rain forecast for the next few days will produce some mud-n-crud in the camping areas, thus far no general flooding is indicated. At last check the river here was stable at about 1.7 ft (flood stage is 16 ft) so flooding would depend on massive upriver rainfall in amounts that currently seem unlikely - - but of course not impossible.

Uncle Phil may want to check on other changes, as the new Landrush day appears to conflict with the (in)famous Winfield Hamburger Orgy. We're checking on changes to "pre-events" like parties and workshops, but have no info to report at present.
