Weekend plans just changed. A call from Moonglow sadly informs me that one of her oldest friends from all through school died this week. She was a student on my university campus and I didn't hear a word about it until now; it was apparently a suicide. My son is good friends with her younger brother. He's away at school and will stay there, but I'll go pick up my daughter and take her to the viewing and tomorrow's funeral.

I thought I was a friend with this young woman on facebook, but apparently not. I saw her remarks often enough on the wall of my kids and other friends, and I remember visiting her links and such. I see that she had an event this afternoon marked, a meal at a favorite restaurant of ours, so I may take my daughter over there just for solidarity with Deanna. She had made "cry for help" attempts before, but I think we all thought she was much happier in college.

Anyway, it'll be a tough weekend. See you on the other side.
