I said goodbye to one of the sweetest cats I have ever had the honour of knowing today. Wee, Weeps, or Weebles, whichever one we called him, it was depending on our mood at the time. He would climb into your lap, start kneading, and purring, or he would be on the arm rest of the chair, head butting you for some pets, or a treat, or sometimes just to be let outside. However, he had an auto immune disease, don't ask me which one, I don't know...and to be honest I feel that question is a moot point....but he lived to be 15 years old...
We also sometimes said he wasn't a cat, but a cog, as at bed time, he would line up with the dogs for the evening treat, and sometimes he would curl up with them, or eat from their food. Yeah, there was a lot of personality balled up in that fur body.
The last few days he was feeling poorly, and gradually getting worse, less and less interested in anything....and yesterday, he spent the whole day sleeping in the same spot, the bed where the dogs take their day long naps. We were constantly checking to see if he was breathing, as we felt his body becoming thinner seemingly withc each passing minute.
He had a vet appointment this morning...and though we were all hoping that the good doctor could give some medication to make him better again, we knew it was goodbye. His soul escaped his body with resounding relief after the vet overdosed him...and now he is buried in the garden, by the front steps where he made his nest and could be found on a dry sunny day, sleeping watching the world go by him.
Then, I said goodbye to one of the sweetest cats I have ever had the honour to know....farewell, old buddy.
