The forum on concertina.net is based on a ready-made content management system. It looks as if thesession.org is hand-coded.

There's not much point these days in coding your own web based forum - there so many good free CMS to choose from, and they have most of the common needs provided and the bugs fixed. It's interesting to reflect that if Mudcat started from scratch now it wouldn't be done the same way - it would just take too long.
