The problem with modern technology is that gradually, those lower classes are seeing what the middle classes have. (They already knew what the rich had, and weren't really expecting to get THAT.) Now, there are SO many interesting things that 'seem' almost attainable, and even as many are living in dorms and working for minimum (or below) wages, there is widespread discontent.
Increased immigration is one facet of this growing issue.
