Subject: RE: BS: In the event of one's demise
Kat, I've often wondered about how "online friends" could be notified if I ceased to be able to use a computer. I'm guessing that for most of us it won't be necessary because we will gradually use a computer less and less and fade away from the sites that are all important to us now.
I keep a recipe box full of cards with my registration information, passwords, etc. If that is ever destroyed, I'm hooped, because I can't remember that information.. I'd like to think that a family member would go through that box (there are only about 200 cards in it) and notify everyone, but in reality I doubt anyone will bother. My husband "wouldn't be able to figure out how to do it" and our children "wouldn't have the time".
Storing something on a site such as this seems like a good plan, but will the site outlive us with all the stored data intact? Hard to say. Will we even be using this kind of communication system x years from now?
