Thread Name: BS: Kendall's good news
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's good news
It was a long day yesterday - we didn't get back to Portland until gone 6.00pm. However, given the good news, it was worth it.

I'm not sure that Kendall will be written up in the AMA Journal - that's not for surgery - but I think that there is a surgical journal that Dr Z will use. As for the cost of any reconstructive surgery - I think that Dr Z is trying to raise money to finance further work on his new procedure, once he had FDA approval for this work. He seemed quite optimistic that our insurance should cover the procedure, anyway.

In the meantime we are on six weekly trips to Boston, to monitor Kendall's progress and to check that the cancer doesn't return. This time we used the T both ways from the bus station, rather than a cab, and found that we can do that journey relatively easily and a whole lot cheaper!

I have put in a request with Dr Z that he should make sure that Kendall's new voice will harmonise with mine - he reckoned that we were raising the bar a bit to far with that one!

Midchuck - Kendall's got enough voice right now to manage a dirty limerick shootout. He is using another part of his epiglotis to produce sound - looking at the screen when they scoped him yesterday I could see some of the tissue there vibrating just as the vocal cords do.

I think that Kendall would make a pretty good guinea pig - he's very cute and extremely cuddly, most of the time and there are times when I wish that I could put him in a cage in the back yard! :0)
