The most economical way of getting pissed was to order "light and bitters." you always got at least 3/4 pint of bitter in your glass then a half-pint bottle of pale ale to top it up. It was utter crap but we were poor... The only time this didn't work was if you went into one of those pubs which had gizmos for dispensing exact pints or halves from those disgusting kegs!
