Tony's version of "William Gower" (usually called "The Waterford Sea Captain" in Ireland) blew my mind when I first heard it.
Mind you, there was a funny consequence. It was the first song I sang at the Goleen Singers Club, in Dublin, many years ago. There was the usual excellent attention as I sang and when I finished, there was a slight hush before a round of applause. "Great", I thought, "they really seemed to enjoy that." It wasn't until months after that I realised all it meant was that they knew versions with at least one more part to the story - and were waiting for me to sing it!
