There's reasons why sites like the BBC, Amazon, Ebay, Google etc go for a neutral or white background behind black text, and it's all to do with legibility and comfortable reading. That's not me being snotty, it's proven research supported by people like the above and also by organisations like the RNIB and Henshaws.

Seriously Bernard, if the site is broken in the latest FF, take it as an opportunity to do a redesign and, as a top priority, severely scale the colour-scheme back.

Who knows, you may get a few more people at the club nights, because they can come out for the night rather than spending the night in a darkened room with a lymmfolkclub.org.uk - induced migraine ....
