I soaked the garments in water for several days, swishing them a couple of times a day and changing the water when it picked up much color.

After that stopped pulling any of the discoloration out I dissolved a couple of tablespoons of an oxyclean type oxy bleach in the tub and again soaked and swished the cloth. This was for a day or two, depending on if it looked like it was doing any more good.

My washer has an ultra handwash setting, and when I decided to wash the garments I put it in with the soap, more oxy bleach, and set it to presoak and it washed on cool or cold.

If it is a delicate quilt, I wouldn't even do it in the washer on that setting, I'd wash it by hand in the bathtub.

Day 1 of the full-octane diet. I mowed the front lawn, that was a good workout for the exercise portion of the plan. I'll give it a day or two then step on the scale. Sometimes I find when I start a diet phase and switch eating that I stop storing water and it looks like I lost a lot to begin with. When weight loss slows, that's kind of depressing. So I'll give my system a day to get accustomed to the change and then weigh in. I haven't done this often, but enough to know what to expect.
