the only time I ever went fishing I was in my 20s & with some of my parents' friends & didn't even get baited! (Just in case that's an Oz term it means fish nibbles at bait!) Tho I did catch the jacket of one of my companions when I swung my rod as demonstrated by them! So I gave up on fishing.

Dad used to belong to a sports fishing club & once caught a marlin! The head was mounted & hung high in the living room so it's spike didn't catch the unwary.

We had a photo of him & a mate with their prawn (shrimp) catch after one long night when the schoolies (school prawns - smaller species) were running - picture 2 blokes proudly displaying their catch by each holding high a feeler of their one prawn!

I'm not in the least interested in fishing, tho the one time I'd have loved being with him when he was fishing was the time a dolphin stood up in the river a few yards away & looked at him fishing on the bank.
