Thread Name: Ryburn 3 Step Birthday Concert Oct 17th
Subject: Ryburn 3 Step Birthday Concert Oct 17th
Ryburn 3 Step, the Sowerby Bridge based collection of musicians and dancers bring their talents to Square Chapel Halifax on Sunday 17 October.
In a 20th birthday celebration, R3S will showcase the folk traditions that have, for two decades, attracted audiences and encouraged local participation at their folk club, barn dances, and workshops.
Featuring songs and music from Pete Coe, Chris Coe, Johnny Adams, Annie Dearman and Steve Harrison, Chris Manners, Sue Burgess, The Black Box Band, Ryburn Longsword plus clog and Appalachian step dancers, this night showcases their residents. Many are touring and recording artists, and veterans of the folk scene, whose experience has created a local organisation with a national reputation.
Based, as the name suggests, in Calderdale’s own Ryburn Valley, R3S is an independent project that prides itself on developing folk music through a range of regular activities and special events. They are called 3 Step because they cover music, song and dance.
This group of amateur, semi-professional and professional folk musicians promotes a variety of activities within the area including a regular programme of dances, pub sessions, workshop weekends, folk days and a monthly series of folksong nights.
