Weather's no that bad now; sun's out and really quite pleasant. Granted, it was cold last night.

Regarding hostel type accomodation, we do have the Scottish Youth Hostel Association who have a wonderful network of hostels throughout Scotland. Despite the name they do allow people of all ages. The view from Ratagan hostel is one to savour.
