Best (and Saddest): Matewan (Chris Cooper, James Earl Jones), the Field (Richard Harris, Brenda Fricker, Sean Bean)

Worst: the Piano, the Red Violin (I walked out of Violin--it was so bad that all the "dramatic" lines literally sounded like joke punchlines). I don't know that I think it deserves "worst" but I hated American Beauty.

Funniest: Alice's Restaurant Massacree (playing guitar and kazoo at the same time!!). I also have a soft spot for Bean--we think my dad is the missing link between Rowan Atkinson and Jim Varney.

Another movie that I really like even though it isn't particularly good is Falling Down (Michael Douglas? One of the Douglases, at least). Sad and funny at the same time.
