Poynton Ceilidhs' new season kicks off this Saturday 23 October with local band Madcap and caller Peter Crowther.

We've got a great programme lined up for the next few months:

20 November: Rising Sun Band, caller Ralph Smethurst. 'Pathologically Acoustic' band from the Northwest of England playing local tunes.

11 December: Albireo, caller Rhodri Davies. Music from the British Isles and beyond.

29 January: Chalktown, caller Barry Goodman. Innovative dance band, with English folk meeting indie rock with a twist of modern jazz.

26 February: The Electropathics, caller tbc. A one-off reunion of one of the most popular and exciting bands of the 1980s ceilidh revival - not to be missed!

26 March: Housewifes' Choice, caller tbc. Lumpy English good time music, mostly stolen from the wireless programmes of their youth.

16 April: details being finalised
