This reminds me that my sisters and I knew more about the political representatives in New Brunswick than we did of our own national representatives when we were growing up in Northern Maine. My oldest sister even met the Prime Minister of New Brunswick before she knew who the Governor of the state was. Of course, this was in an age before cable TV when the only news you got came through the antenna on top of the house (no satellite dishes either). And CBC came in better than CBS. ABC and NBC we vague shapes through the snow. But CBC was clear as a bell.

I remember watching a new British science fiction show on CBC about an old man who traveled the universe in a police box that was bigger on the inside than on the outside. It was years later that I found out what a cult following that show developed.
