Thread Name: Instrumental Demonstration near Wall St. 29 Oct
Subject: Instramental Demonstration near Wall St.
I want to let people know about a small demonstration I'm trying to put together near Wall St.. It is an improvisational instrumental performance of dark music. What it will sound like will largely depend on who is there. I am hoping it will sound somewhere between this…

I am not particularly concerned about how it sounds because to me it is more about expressing ourselves. My reasoning for this is twofold.
1. To my knowledge you do not need a permit to perform music in the streets of New York, only to have an amplification device (This is acoustic, no amplification, thus no permit needed) http://www.citylore.org/citylore_links-guide.html#performing

2. Instrumental music is a pure form of expression free of political bias. Music has the power to define a space. Sound spreads out affecting all within its radius. Depressing instrumental music on Wall St. communicates a message of displeasure to the neighborhood and hopefully will inspire others to express themselves as well.

There will probably be a sign saying something like "No money please, we are not a bank." to make the message clearer. We also might sing some classics like "Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out" or "Brother Can You Spare a Dime" (I'll bring extra copies of lyrics and such). So come one come all, with your non-amplified instrument and express yourself to make a marginal, yet fulfilling difference in this sad excuse for a banking system.

Where: Outside of the federal reserve
When: 10 am , Friday the 29th.

Thanks, hope to see you there!

p.s. please provide helpful comments if you know of any permit problems and such
