Franklin Adams (FPA) wrote a short verse back in the early 30s:
Prohibition is an awful flop
We like it.
It don't stop what it tries to stop
We like it.
It's filled our land with vice and crime,
It's covered us with vice and slime
It don't prohibit worth a dime
Nevertheless, we favor it.
