Sonnet 28/12/00                        DXX

Placing my dreams upon alter of heart,
I pray my muse might send some hope, or lend
Me words to put some passion in my art.
What might I offer, that my muse might bend,
And smile in my direction? Heart's desire
Might make me bold, but I would have her speak
Of what she will, and let her voice inspire.
Is this to be my fate, to always seek
Beyond all reason, for what I would hold?
I do not know how I could offer less
Than caring, for words emotions enfold.
Yet, dare I hope even to muse confess?
I worship muse as source of light, but know
I cannot see beyond what she might show.
