BIG MONEY, mostly from out of state, tried to get Patty Murray, Washington State's senior senator (Democrat) replaced by Republican gadfly Dino Rossi. They spend 26 times as much money, mostly on attack ads lying about Murray's record, to defeat Murray as Murray's supporters were able to spend on her campaign.
As of today (Wednesday) the race is too close to call, but Murray is currently ahead by a narrow margin. Mail-in ballots still to be counted.
