I spent three hours loosening soil and removing rocks and roots from my flower bed. It's all raked over evenly now, ready for me to add a layer of compost to it tomorrow. Then I can finally plant at least 50 of the 100 tulip bulbs that I bought over a week ago. I must also make a run to the community compost bins at the transfer station with all the roots and other plants that I removed in the past few days.

Now that that flower bed is empty, I can relocate some Forget-me-not, daisies and mallow plants from other beds, making those beds less cluttered also.

I hope that my hands will work better tomorrow. At the moment they are sore, swollen and inflexible. I need to get everything finished tomorrow as the prediction is for freezing daytime temperatures after that. On the bright side, if the ground will be frozen from now until spring, I won't have to worry about cats accidentally digging up my bulbs.
