The actual words were:-
"MARES EAT OATS AND DOES EAT OATS AND LITTLE LAMBS EAT IVY A TIDLEY IVY WOULDN'T YOU" (REPEAT)THEN;-
"THOUGH THE WORDS SOUND QUEER AND FUNNY TO YOUR EAR A LITTLE BIT JUMBLED AND JIVEY SING MARES EAT OATS AND DOES EAT OATS AND LITTLE LAMBS EAT IVY. MARES EAT OATS AND DOES EAT OATS AND LITTLE LAMBS EAT IVY A TIDLEY IVY WOULDN'T YOU."

I know this because when we were "bombed out" by "Uncle Adolf we stayed with my aunt Ivy in a tiny cottage which was well away from the Liverpool docks (The target they were after when they hit our house in Bootle (north of Liverpool) I was 5 years old and still remember her singing this song as she hung out a line full of "Nappies" (she had two baby daughters at the time). I am trying to find a copy of the song to take to her on her 90th Birthday this coming Wednesday.)
