Sonnet 18/01/01                        DXXIX

Can you see future where I might play role
As other than the fool I seem to be?
Can heart afford to pay whatever toll
My dreams demand, or will these dreams now flee
As have my hopes? Can you return a part
Of the concern I offer? Shall I pray
For understanding, when I feel my heart
Has less of you than I might wish, today?
I hold you as my muse: Though I desire
Dream, I dare not ask for more than smile, now.
I would not have you of my verses tire,
But without hope, my words to silence bow.
I do not ask for love, but can you write
Some words of how you feel, to restore light?
