Thread Name: Raglan Road - Recorded versions
Subject: RE: Raglan Road - Recorded versions
I have been away from the Cafe, so just catching up. I must have missed this thread.
Firstly belated thanks to guest "T-boy" (way back on 21st October 2004) for saying nice things about our Pigfoot version.
We have in fact recently re-recorded it wit ha fine fiddler called Frank Bradley. With a bit of luck the CD might be out by Christmas - it is our first recording for 20 years.
Best version I have heard is by Patrick Kavanagh, although I don't think it is on a record. It was part of a TV programme about Kavanagh, Behan and other Dublin writers and the pubs they frequented. A magic sequence of Kavanagh singing the song (unaccompanied) in a pub. Forget title of programme (it was some years ago) - but it was introduced by,,,,, Van Morrison
