Questioning anybody's motives can be (and often is) perceived as presumptuous and arrogant. No big surprise there. People are people.

Goring anybody's sacred cow is going to cause tempers to flare and people to react knee-jerkily (if you'll excuse the neologism). No big surprise there. People are still people.
