My son has been trying to help me understand all the nuances that have evolved in describing Rock music for 4 years now. I get particularly confused by the metal appellations. Hair Metal? Glam Metal? Thrash Metal? Heavy Metal?

It's all "hard rock" to me.

I like and still listen to a fair amount of rock music, compliments of my teenager and his iPod plugged into the car sound system.
