I spent time with Valdy and jammed with him. Recently (Oct 2010) met up with him in Nova Scotia at the Savoy Theater in Glace Bay (I live in Mexico.) Spent 4 days with him in Temecula California in 2007. He's one of those guys who gets better with time and, at 65 years old, he shows no signs of slowing down. All his stuff is out there, his website lists his tour schedule, he'd be delighted to meet you and chat. He is a National treasure to be sure, but all he wants to do is perform and entertain. I do a "Valdy Tribute" when I play live, and the material gets the hottest response.
