Theologically, does blessing an inanimate object such as a gritter (or the plough in former times) confer any change in its efficacy? Does it bring 'good luck' or prevent accidents for example? I would've thought only people could be blessed by the clergy. I'm not being facetious, I'd really like to know the Church's ruling on this.
