My parents were from Davenport, Iowa, Bix's hometown. In fact, they knew him slightly, though they knew his older brother (also nicknamed Bix) better. I think my Mom would have liked the thoughts expressed in your song, Alan. My Dad, not so much. He got out as soon as he could, dragging my Mom to California. Nice song, though.
