Ah, the finger in the ear, do we not all miss it.

The sight of a bearded person wearing sandles, with a tankard in hand and a finger in the ear, singing songs about dead sailors (in a slightly nasal tone).

This is what folk is all about.

The problem is holding a tankard and using the same hand inserting a finger in the ear is extremely risky and may result in beer loss.
