Thread Name: Bajo Sexto - does anyone play?
Subject: RE: Bajo Sexto - does anyone play?
Tim Doesn't really play anywhere near the traditional style-he spent years developing his own style of vocal accompaniment on it, uses his own tunings, and I imagine you would be hard pressed to find anyone else who plays like that. What little I've heard of traditional Bajo sexto is a lot more actual chords and a choppier style.

But I agree, it's amazing to listen to. I live in Oregon, and saw him in a little pub, and between his voice and the instrument he had no trouble filling the room.

Larkinthemorning.com has one, but it's a bit expensive. I just picked one up the other day at a local shop for $225, and it plays fine. So there are certainly cheap ones out there, but I couldn't say for sure where to find them.
