First off, I'm surprised anyone has to ask whether this is a con.

I will agree that any conversation is ill advised, although my well-rehearsed reply is:

"This number is listed with the Federal do-not-call registry and the fine for calling it is $10,000 per call. I will report this call within the next ten minutes."

I seldom finish before the "click" and seldom get another call.

(I do have the report website bookmarked, and have used it.)
