I asked Tom if Helium would affect Goretex vocal chords the same way it affects the biological ones. Tom didn't know. Now that I've thought about it, I'd have to say he'd still sound like a chipmunk, because Helium doesn't affect the chords at all, but the way sound vibrations travel through Helium vs. air. I don't think it's a great idea to experiment though. Air, including oxygen, is important.
