Kat, our local Folk Festival has a bring-&-buy hour, which is well attended. Artists selling their records, instruments for sale, tuners, etc.
I have sold two guitars there that I bought on the EBay equivalent. I bid on three possibles and got them all, at the sort of prices that the Autoharp sellers are asking. The one that I kept is lovely, and the other two were OK after a little work. I didn't make anything, but I got a good guitar and didn't lose anything.
