I have sent an email to the conservation officer as it's unclear if I need permission to do the enlargement. The (42x36cm) opening is an original feature. I pleaded the gas bill and the fact that the rolls of insulation probably wouldn't fit through the hole.
It would be a step-ladder job, and I am not confident on ladders. I would fit a pull-down loft ladder, which I had at the last house.

Another lump of snow fell off the roof this afternoon, so I had to dig the front path out. There's another lot getting ready to go.

The lights in the village look very pretty. there was a little ceremony in the marketplace to switch them on, and they had the citizen of the year and community group of the year presentations as well. It's quite a pro-active community. A local contractor's men have been ploughing and shifting the snow, and the local coffee shop has been giving them free packed lunches. They are more involved in carting away the 8 foot piles of snow from the roadside now.

I have sheepskin boots and slippers, and some thermal snow boots too. I wore a skirt today as a change from trousers. That's two skirt days in the last month!
Didn't do anything much today. Even the fire kept in overnight, so I just cranked it back into life when I got up.

Tomorrow I must try and find out what day the freezer is coming. Theoretically the dryer's coming on Tuesday.
