Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, etc. are all large American capitalist companies and, whether or not we like capitalism, if we do want folks to check our work, we might as well participate in the most-used ones. There is, however, one social English-Arts-Council-backed networking site that I'm aware of and use, but it's mainly for poets - WriteOutLoud.
