I think you're right, animals do have more sense of the ridiculous than I give them credit for. And you're right of course, Patsy, it isn't ignorance, just natural behaviour. I sometimes wish we humans could be allowed to be uninhibited, but sometimes they can be very embarrassing. There's an old joke where a lady is watching her friend's cat licking its bottom, and she says "Wouldn't it be strange if WE could do that?" And her friend replies "I expect my cat would let you if you asked him."
