Thread Name: Nova Scotia Songs
Subject: RE: Nova Scotia Songs
I don't know of any cd that would hold "all of the best" because there are far more songs in Nova Scotia than a cd would hold and "best" is a very subjective term. However, The Girls Of Neils Harbour is a great song!
The Cape Breton Song Collection lists two recordings of it:
The Tarbot Folk Festival Album ( sung by Sam moon, the song's writer)
Breaking Tradition by McGinty ( BT is the album title, not to confuse with the celtic folk band Breaking Tradition.)
Cape Breton Song Collection ISBN 0-9692208-0-4 and its sibling book The Nova Scotia Song Collection ISBN 0-9692208-2-0 perhaps contain some of what you seek and will direct you to what recordings existed at the time of publication but that goes back to the 1980's. There have perhaps been other recordings made in the past 25 years.
There have been compilation releases made by anything from the Nova Scotia Dept. Of Tourism to beer companies and it is possible that one of them that you seek.
Sorry that I can't be of more help!
Best wishes,
Sandy
