You CAN have more than one browser on your system. I have 3- I use Chrome most of the time now, occasionally use Firefox and also have IE for some sites which require it (grrr).

If there was a message about a more 'modern' browser it will probably have meant an upgrade to Internet Explorer, as certain things will only work with the latest version, IE8. This upgrade can be downloaded free.

These browsers can all work independently; they can make bids to take over by installing their own toolbars etc, but you always get a choice and you can refuse to let it install.
