I have till Thursday to toddler-proof the house as much as possible. This equates to a proper putting away of stuff that I have just left lying about until I find somewhere for it....well now's the time!

It was an awful drive back yesterday afternoon once I got north of Newcastle. Almost a white-out at one point (perhaps an exaggeration, but it was bad). Then a slow drive over fresh snow for about 20 miles. I then found there was an area-wide power cut when I got back. Luckily it came back on about an hour later, but the Victorian oil lamp came into use and the camping stove was brought into use.

The Christmas run is going to be interesting. Last night the long range forecast was for much snow down the east side of the country, whereas the local forecast on the BBC website (my homepage) has rain for the end of the week...
