Thread Name: Lyr Req: Come Back to the Valley (Tex Morton)
Subject: Lyr Add: COME BACK TO THE VALLEY (Tex Morton)
Tex Morton's recording of COME BACK TO THE VALLEY is in "Regal Zonophone Collection, Vol. 2," (EMI CD 8142052, 1993).

Tex Morton was a New Zealander who made his career playing cowboy-style music in Australia. Regal Zonophone was a British company that was very active in promoting Australian country music.

He had an unusual way of yodeling, that included, I think, fluttering the uvula at the back of the throat while singing falsetto.

Here's my transcription of a recording at YouTube:

COME BACK TO THE VALLEY
As sung by Tex Morton

[Yodel]

1. A stranger was reading a letter from home,
A letter that brought bitter tears.
All over this world he had chosen to roam,
A wanderer for many long years.
Over and over he read ev'ry word,
And this is what I heard:

2. Come back to the valleys. Come back to the hills.
Come back to the ones that love you so.
The old folk are weary. Their time is drawing nigh.
They need you. their heads are bending low.

3. A light still burns in the window each night
To guide you wherever you may go.
Come back to the valleys. Come back to the hills.
Come back to the ones who love you so,

[Yodel]

REPEAT 3.
