Laurel, it's traditional where I'm from (Northern Germany) to have carp for Christmas dinner and herring salad for New Year.

I haven't had carp in ages (in fact my parents never did, either) but the herring salad is a wonderful thing. I made up my own last year after browsing online, but I was wondering if anyone here had their own recipe.
