The stories I most enjoy are those in which someone finds a way to overcome whatever adversity has entered their life. Then it becomes a story of "when good things happen". However, I think that in many cases this is an inappropriate label. As I recall a number of "when good things happen" stories, including most of what have been posted here, it seems to me that most of the time the good things didn't just happen - the recipient of the "good" has somehow taken measures to make it happen. I'm not saying this is always the case; but it seems to be more the rule than the exception.

Serendipity often works for good as well.
